2016. Kindle Keyboard the Kindle DX need a new update or they will stop working
Amazon is requiring owners of older e-readers, including Kindle 1, Kindle 2, Kindle Keyboard and Kindle DX, to update the firmware. If they do not comply, Amazon will disable all internet access until the e-reader is manually updated. Why is Amazon implementing this? There are several conflicting theories. 1 - This update alters how the e-reader interacts with the Amazon server. 2 - Amazon may be introducing data limits for older e-readers. 3 - Amazon is updating the HTTPS certificates on their servers soon and they need to refresh the certificate authority file that the Kindle software uses to ensure it can trust Amazon’s servers. Without this update, your device won’t be able to connect with Amazon servers (once the server certificates are changed) because it won’t be able to establish a secure connection.
