2024. New Kindle Scribe includes AI-powered notebook
The all-new Kindle Scribe 2024 merges all the advantages of Kindle with a robust note-taking gadget. It will feature mostly the same software interface existing Scribe users are familiar with but with a few notable differences. The new integrated AI-powered notebook (English-only) enables you to quickly summarize pages and notes into precise bullet points in a handwritten-style font that can be shared from the notebook section. You can also enhance your notes in a handwritten-style font so they’re clear while preserving the appearance and feel of handwriting. You can jot your thoughts directly into the book when inspiration strikes. Your note becomes part of the page and the book’s text dynamically adjusts around it—whether you increase the font size, modify the font style, or alter the book layout, the note remains visible precisely where you want it, so you never lose any meaning or context. The new stylus feels like a real pen and the new soft-tip eraser feels just like a pencil.
2024. Super-compact ereader Onyx Boox P6 e-Reader gets AI button
Chinese producer Onyx has launched a new compact e-reader, Onyx Boox P6 Little White Horse. P6 has a rounded design, although the display size remains at 6.13 inches. It features 128 GB of storage, expandable to 1 TB via microSD cards. This should provide sufficient space to store all your e-books, audiobooks, or other material in one location. It operates on Android 13 and supports the installation of third-party apps. The device’s power source is the 3,950 mAh battery, which the company states is sufficient to last 30 days with 2 hours of daily use. It measures 160 × 80 × 8 mm in size, exactly the same as the Palma. One of the key features of the new P6 is the integration of an AI Smart Key on the left spine. Pressing the AI button will activate the AI assistant, which can assist with various tasks, answer your questions and allow you to share content easily.
2023. EverPaper - new E Ink notebook with AI
In a move that could only be described as "rather clever" and potentially "slightly alarming to anyone still fond of paper," Evernote (yes, the Chinese one, not the intergalactic note-taking app you might have been hoping for) has unveiled the EverPAPER Ink Screen AI Office Notebook. Priced at a thoroughly specific $311, this gadget boasts a 10.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1872 × 1404 and dimensions so thin (4.65mm!) they might make a sheet of paper blush with inadequacy. Weighing just 415 grams, it's light enough to make gravity think it's slacking off. The screen itself is an impressive amalgamation of a capacitive touch panel, an electromagnetic screen, and an e-ink panel, which sounds like the sort of technological overachievement one might expect from beings attempting to conquer interstellar bureaucracy. Its arsenal includes an electromagnetic pen with a mind-boggling 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, as well as support for gestures and touch input, because why not? Underneath it all lurks AI handwriting recognition that cheerfully tackles Chinese and English scribbles, alongside the ChatGPT writing assistant engine, which seems eager to help you write articles, outline plots, create meeting agendas, or perhaps just apologize profusely for your grammar. It can even simplify language, presumably to the point where it could explain quantum physics to a haddock. All in all, it’s the sort of versatile gadget that seems destined to either revolutionize your life or leave you pondering why your trusty pen never needed firmware updates.
2023. Bigme updates UI for its e-notes and e-readers
Bigme is rolling out a new firmware update for a majority of its existing devices, including the Good e-Reader, Bigme Galy and Bigme InkNote Color+. These devices now boast Kaleido 3 colour e-paper, thanks to the successful implementation of the update. The company has also revamped the user interface, which now bears similarities to the Onyx Boox. The interface is now more precise, concise and has a bubbly feel, a significant departure from the previous version which was more technical and less user-friendly. The new interface has reduced the number of choices and increased redundancy, making it easier to use. The developers claim to have improved the battery efficiency by 30%, although measuring such a claim is challenging. Additionally, they have added ChatGPT functionality to the note-taking section and made some changes to the note-taking options.
2023. iReader Neo e-Readers come with AI for Text-to-speech function
iReader's recent addition to their product lineup is the Neo series, which are dedicated e-readers that lack note-taking capabilities. The Neo and Neo Pro are the two models available, with the Neo having 212 PPI and the Neo Pro boasting 300 PPI. The Neo Pro is priced at $230, which is $40 more than the standard model and both devices operate on Android. One notable feature of the iReader Neo e-readers is their intelligent optimization technology. This technology includes an intelligent edge trimming function that automatically detects the format of the PDF book content, allowing for easier PDF rearrangement and the ability to adjust font, font size, typesetting and more. Additionally, the AI technology allows for text-to-speech reading, contrast enhancement and one-click smart PDF watermark removal, which enhances the overall reading experience, especially when viewing magazines or comics. Another standout feature of the Neo e-reader series is its support for English, with an integrated dictionary that provides instant translation of words in the book. Furthermore, the devices offer a language learning mode that provides real-time content translation.

With a slim profile of just 6.8 mm thickness and a weight of 390 grams, the e-note is easy to carry around. Hanvon's proprietary screen reducing layer ensures a flicker-free and blue light-free experience. The e-note also comes with 4 GB of memory, 64 GB of storage, a pair of microphones and speakers and a large 6000 mAh battery that can comfortably last for weeks.
