2014. Scholastic brings ebook subscription service for schools

The children’s publisher Scholastic aims to integrate Common Core-aligned e-content into primary school classrooms with two new digital reading programs. Storia School Edition offers 2,000 fiction, nonfiction, and children’s ebooks to pre-K–6 schools on a subscription basis. In addition to this content, the program is designed to support reading instruction with tools such as text highlighting, audio features for word pronunciation, dictionaries, and quizzes. The digital content can be accessed on various platforms including computers, tablets, and interactive whiteboards. A second program, named Core Clicks, is a web-based platform linking K–5 students with Scholastic’s digital nonfiction resources in social studies and science.
